The Bachelor of Design(BDes) programme challenges conventional perceptions of product design as asolely industrial discipline, focusing instead on reimagining experiences andresponding to the complexities of modern life.

Our students workbeyond traditional disciplinary boundaries and engage with specialist expertisefrom other domains, such as science, medicine or technology, to create a visionof a better future.

You will explorecomplex social, ethical and environmental issues as subjects for designprojects, and will learn how to apply appropriate research methods andanalytical skills from the social sciences when developing innovativefuture-focused solutions.

Through a programme of studio-based learning and live projects, you will acquire a wide range of visualisation, communication and material-making skills that will enable you to bring together user insights, expert knowledge and ethnographic information to drive the design and innovation process.

As part of our transdisciplinary approach, the BDes course offers classes in another language and the opportunity of a semester-long exchange with one of our international academic partners. The BDes pathway shares the first two years with the Master of European Design (MEDes) programme, at which point you can choose which of the two directions best suits your academic objectives.
