On Thursday 19th March Ezio Manzini visited GSA H&I Forres campus. He gave a talk about “Communities building. Weaving collaborative relationships, towards an ecological and just society”, which was followed by an open discussion on community building in rural contexts with staff and students.
For over three decades Ezio has been working in the field of design for sustainability. Most recently, his interests have focused on social innovation for a just and ecological transition. In this perspective 15 years ago he started DESIS: an international network of schools of design, active in the field of design for social innovation for sustainability http://www.desisnetwork.org . His main recent books are: “Design, When Everybody Designs”, MIT Press 2015; “Politics of the Everyday.” Bloomsbury, 2019; and “Livable Proximity” Egea, 2021.
His visit is part of a series of international talks hosted at the H&I campus. The series aims to encourage reflection and action on the interaction between people and their environment, and to explore the role of design in addressing the ethical, social and environmental challenges we are facing as people and planet, and that students are developing in the MDes Design Innovation Master programme.
