Students from GSA's Highlands campus just outside Forres have been working with the town museum to explore opportunities for tourists and citizens to experience #futureheritage and engage with the history of place. The project ran in partnership with the Falconer Museum, and was led by Dr George Jaramilo whose research interests explore the intersection of place, culture and history through the role of design. The student work has been very well received by people in the town and by the museum team.
The Falconer Museum in Forres faces uncertain times following the council’s decision to pull its funding from the publicly-owned galleries. Now students from the Glasgow School of Art campus near the town have examined how the building could operate beyond March next year. That is when the doors will either shut for good or the attraction will be passed to a charitable trust.
