A Directory App to provide Paramedics with up-to-date information on alternative local services to A&E for non-emergency patients.

Over recent years, Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) has seen an increasing proportion of non-emergency patients, and this has now reached the level where a significant proportion of patients seen by SAS may not be best served by a conveyance to A&E. The Directory App concept is a simple, easy to use interface for Paramedics that brings up quality assured information about appropriate alternative referral sites in the area around the user, including opening hours and contact details. The aim of the Directory App Experience Lab was to explore and develop a basic prototype of a Directory App to support initial small scale testing. The Lab provided a safe and realistic environment through which the DHI Design Team helped users explore the concept and share their ideas to co-design and prototype the Directory App.
