The Master of Research is a pioneering postgraduate researchdegree offered at The Glasgow School of Art (GSA), which can be undertakeneither on a full time basis over 1 year or a part time basis over 2 years. 

This programme promotes independent and critical thinking, where candidates will embark on self-initiated researchinquiries,which can be interdisciplinary in nature, and which seek toaddress contextually-located social and cultural challenges.

Research projects typically fall under the themes of landscape andplace; sustainable environments and communities; the creative economy;heritage, archive and collections; health and care; and creative education.  

We welcome applicants from a diverse range of creativebackgrounds, and the programme is ideal for anyone considering an academiccareer after undergraduate or postgraduate studying; or early or mid-careerpractitioners who are seeking to pivot their practice towards research.

FEE WAIVER STUDENTSHIPS

Master of Research Scholarships: Design for Health & Care

The Digital Health and Care Innovation Centre (DHI) have a number of fee-waivers available for Master of Research (M.Res) candidates proposing to undertake research projects focused on digital health and care, which align with one of the DHI’s strategic themes below:

1. The contribution of digital health and care to Scotland’s Net Zero targets.

2. How digital solutions can best support mental health and well-being.

3. Supported living in the community (e.g. SMART housing, smart communities).

4. Measuring the impact of digital health & care projects.

5. Citizen empowerment and long-term condition management.

6. Healthy Ageing. Digital solutions as an enabler in shifting care from institutional settings into the home and/ or community settings (e.g. Hospital @ Home).

7. Digital solutions in supporting Population/Public.

8. Health early intervention and/or Emergency Planning/Prevention.

9. Digital skills and workforce development in health and social care.
